Joey began working as an Environmental Consultant while completing his MS Degree in Earth Science & Geology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Immediately after graduation Joey continued to hone his consulting and Earth Science skills by working at local Bay Area consulting firms as well as teaching Environmental and Physical Geology courses at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California. Joey is an excellent technical writer having written Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), site characterization work plans, spill prevention, control, and countermeasure plan, hazardous materials business plans (HMBPs) for many large Bay Area hospitals, remedial action plans, and everything in between. Joey has worked on over 100 Phase I ESAs and numerous Phase I Transaction Screen Assessments (TSAs) throughout the Central Coast, Bay Area, Central Valley, and Northern California Regions. Joey has extensive experience designing and implementing a wide range of Phase II Preliminary Site Assessments and Site Characterization studies including soil, soil vapor, indoor air, groundwater, storm water, and wastewater sampling for a wide range of residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial clients.

Joey is familiar with the full range of drilling methods for subsurface investigations, well installations, and remedial applications. He has installed, developed, sampled, and decommissioned many monitoring wells at a variety of commercial, agricultural, and industrial sites. Joey has developed a strong foundation in remediation strategies through directing numerous underground storage tank removal projects, remedial excavations, and fuel and solvent leak remediation projects. Joey has designed and implemented successful remediation strategies at former dry-cleaning and fuel leak sites through the use of soil vapor extraction systems, groundwater extraction systems, and bioremedial groundwater injections. Joey has also successfully investigated and remediated numerous pesticide impacted agricultural parcels for redevelopment into residential housing developments. As a project manager and field geologist, Joey has worked with a wide range of clients of all sizes to cost effectively achieve regulatory compliance and environmental cleanup goals.
